Interesting Wing Test

As a 240sx guy this is great info for me. But, I think that the results should apply to many or at least give some guidance. As a note I have the wing which is listed as 3kg of downforce (S14 JDM Aero), which is not great, but when you compare it to the no wing graph I went from a terrible 35kg of lift to essentially 0 lift (aero neutral) which is certainly an improvement.

I am the lower red line that runs across the break even point.

i may be reading into the lines too much, and i dont proclaim to know anything about fluid dynamics but when looking at your red line you can see as speed and velocity of air increase your wing becomes less efficient. at around 120KPH you can see the clean air stream move up OVER the wing.
pretty cool IMO. i love this stuff. thats also right about where the higher mounted wings begin to become more effective.

I'm also going to make a guess that the green line CUSCO GT1, has an abrupt rake to it which is why it starts working abruptly, then platou's (sp?) and with adjustments could make a smoother transition with less drag. couldn't that quick spike be translated into drag?

I have tracked my car but honestly, I has been down for over 2 years and is only now getting back up. But I will be tracking it again in the future!

That IS an interesting article.

It's from an old BATTLE MAGAZINE.

Looks like you caught that on Brians blog...BHWORLD.wordpress.com

Anyway, I am a 14 owner as well. When I was thinking of working with the K's aero wing, I pondered doing something similar to the Gr.A GTRs / NISMO BNR32.

Kind of a mid spoiler that would mount between the K's aero wing stands.

You can go custom or modify the VERTEX or even ORIGIN rear spoiler to achieve a similar look / effect.

Behind a car, a lot of possibilities but nothing ever changes abruptly its always a curve. So I want more details about their testing method do you have a full scan of the article available?

Unfortunately that is all I have. I was not the one who made the scans, I simply snagged it from another site.

On the topic of the wing that I am using, I agree that the wing would appear to become less effective as speed increases. This may have something to do with air flow shearing off the rear window at a higher point as speeds increase. Before I make the jump to something like a APR GTC-300 I will probably add a gurney flap or sorts like Mmdb did to his.
