truck related help

maybe some of you guys might have some insight, I tried posting this on a chevy forum but its just as bad as trying to find help on nasioc.

my parking brake cable has been broken for well over year (going to try and replace it this weekend)

so last night I couldnt find a parking spot close to my apt so I parked in partly on a small mount of ice/snow taking a spot, put it in 2nd like I always do and turned it off. So as I take my foot of the brake the truck starts rolling, so I give in and part across the complex

Now it seems like any incline (big or small) I park on the truck will try to roll. Now I doubt it could be the clutch because a new one was installed a few weeks before I bought it in dec. any thoughts?

just to add, this is all I have so far...

1-clutch is slipping, but as I said its new and the truck runs/drives fine
2-low compression (what i dont need), but I have to see if the motor is turning when it rolls. but as I said the truck runs and drives just fine

so your issue is that the tranny doesn't hold the truck on an incline?

Sounds like my Sentra with 275,000+ miles on it (very tired engine with low compression). Even in 1st gear, parking it on any sort of incline guaranteed it would roll away. The higher the gear you left it in, the easier it rolled. In 4th gear it was as if you left it in neutral! Finally fixed the emergency brake when I got sick of seeing it roll away. Car ran fine, although it was a 'bit' low on power.
