LMAO dude Scott speed and his team was worthless in the F1 series and Danica will probably loose just as much as he did...our F1 efforts are always half assed because it seems the teams are not passionate they are just funded and pointed into the direction the race is at and run with it...its my observation of Scott speeds work in F1 and I can probably bet it will be the same with Danicas.

Now that doesnt mean the pitcrew didnt give it their all i wasnt there but its all about car, team, driver and money and id have to say it seems they failed in spades.

update!

WHOLLY SHIT Danica will be "eye candy" and that will capture the hearts of Americans and follow her into F1 to then gain a larger Amercan F1 fan base because its all over the media America doesnt give a shit about the most expensive most telivised racing leauge As a side note was rooting for Ferrari and had been since i was in grade school, Regardless of Mercs winning and pulling up in the ranks.

People that like F1 are into it because they KNOW what its about...its been out since 1950...From my meetings of of people that don't like it either....

A. Respect it but like other things that don't involve millions of dollars a year and a NASA grade engineered chassis thats unobtainable, and rather watch racing that they can personally relate to

or

B rather watch brutish yet impressively powered steel horses go round n round in Circles for hours wait for wreckage and beer....and yell WOOO HOOO HEEE DAWGGIE!

Side note...
I DO LIVE IN TX so i can say that from experiance, BUT im really a new yorker LOL

Scott Speed didnt have a team in F1. He drove for Toro Rosso which is part of Red Bull Racing. Scott just drove for them. They (Toro Rosso) had a win last year with Sabastian Vettle. So the team wasnt worthless, Scott just never had any luck. You see there hasnt been a US F1 team in quite some time. For an American to try and make it in a european dominated industry its hard. He was the best from the Red bull racing program which is saying something. If someone started a US based team with us drivers and had the right backing they could do very well in F1.

I agree, Scott did what he could with the cards he was dealt. He looks like a much better driver then what he did with Toro Rosso. Lets remember though this was Toro Rosso, not Renualt, Mclaren, Ferrari, Williams, etc... The team and car play a huge factor in all motorsports. I think that a US based team that uses american engineers, and an american driver will be an exciting new entry into F1. It's about time the US gets involved. Now I don't think Danica Patrick is the right choice, but she will bring in a lot of press which is a good thing. I think Scott Speed would be good, or if you can break them off there contracts Jimmy Johnson, or Jeff Gordon would be pretty good. Other possibilities could be Marco Andretti, or Graham Rahal, both young talented guys. I also think this could be a great opportunity for Ford to get back into F1.

Okay...this is going to be really long-winded, but I have to get this off my chest...

Not to knock Danica's talent...BUUUUUUUT, something from her success in her karting days didn't translate over so well to her Indy Car driving on road courses. In the few races I had witnessed, particularly one at Watkins Glen, she looked abysmal. BUT, to make an F1 team go 'round, it's far more about funding than anything else when it comes to even getting the team off the ground.

Look at Williams for example. They're not really manufacturer-backed in the slightest, and as a result they run an insanely dedicated group that is solely dedicated to cultivating and generating sponsorship revenues on levels that are staggering given the team's mid-level performance over the past few years. In that light, I think Danica could generate HUGE lumps of cash to bring to the table. In that regard though, I'm curious to see how the USF1 team might drum up the funding necessary. I'm surprised to see that younger talent like Marco Andretti and Graham Rahal haven't been given the nod. I actually do like Speed though and I don't think he got a fair shake at Toro Rosso, but that's another story altogether.

F1 in America is still a growing niche, but until more commitment is demostrated by the governing body towards developing a broader North American market, I have a feeling that the USF1 team, while respected by its peers, will be regarded as the red-headed stepchild by Formula One Management and the FIA as a whole.

The unfortunate thing is that as long as F1 is guided by the perennial money-sponging ways of Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosely who have shown time and time again that North America is of little consequence to their bottom line, it won't grow to its potential here. They've clearly displayed that they would much rather pluck the low-hanging fruit that resides in oil-rich countries and individuals as well as despot-like governments that appropriate taxpayer funding towards hosting the 3-ring money toilet that has become the F1 spectacle.

Canada, US, Silverstone and Suzuka are prime examples.

Sure, let’s get rid of Indianapolis, Montreal, force Melbourne into a corner, get rid of Suzuka, force Silverstone out (Silverstone for crying out loud!) for more money at Brands Hatch, hack up Hockenheim and the Nurburgring, take France off the map, dump San Marino and put just about every other historical circuit on notice that they need to pay up even more money in an already losing proposition. Now a few of these tracks were a bit tame, and with burgeoning interest outside of Europe, you can’t help but argue that F1 needs to branch out to over locations...but these locales all have passionate, dedicated fans.

And what do we get instead? India (in a few years), Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Russia (again, slated to host a race) and China. Granted, I actually love a lot of the new venues…Singapore was unbelievable to watch, but I still think that you can’t just ditch your most loyal fans at the expense of a few bucks.

Between pathetic government-backed-taxpayer-wasting efforts and extremely wealthy individuals looking to host the F1 three-ring-circus of nonsense, highlighted only by the ceremonial procession of cars at high speeds, burning fuel and little overtaking – Bernie has managed to illegitimatize F1 and has revealed himself as nothing more than a geriatric harlot who has put the sport up for sale.

Indy, Canada, Silverstone, etc have packed in fans YEAR AFTER YEAR…Canada since 1978, Silverstone since F1 started. Suzuka suffered the same fate after Toyota stuffed a Mt. Fuji-sized mountain of cash down Bernie’s pants to win out over Suzuka; arguably the best track in all of F1 in terms of technical challenge.

I know F1 is currently a Titanic-sized mess headed for a financial iceberg, but is this part of their maneuvering to try and avoid it? I’m not so sure if kicking the passengers out of the lifeboats is really the answer here.

Then again, if anyone could grow F1 organically with a home-grown team, I believe Peter Windsor has the wherewithal to do it. I've been a dedicated F1 fan for years now, but honestly, I'd rather see some better direction taken here at home with our own open-wheel racing. With F1 starting to implode, it'd be really really cool to see a renaissance of open-wheel racing in America like we did with CART back in the day.

Okay, I'm done. Sorry for the rant.

I've tried to watch any sort of open wheel racing. just doesn't appeal to me

I love GT and touring style racing, from aussie and DTM v8s to our home brewed Koni/WC racing series. Wish them the best though....

According to the website USF1

"Ken Anderson, Peter Windsor and all at USF1 would like to thank everyone for the amazing response we have received since news first broke about our project on February 4, 2009.

Proving that American technology, American drivers and the American competitive spirit can compete and win on the F1 global stage has been our mission for several years now. And, judging by the overwhelming response we have received from F1 fans both in the US and worldwide, from within the F1 industry and from the US hi-tech industry, we think that many of you agree with us.

We will be officially announcing the team in a special show on Speed TV on February 24 at 13:00 EST."

Can't wait to hear the announcement

I find it so interesting that they have a team together without anyone I know (LOTS of big time motorsports ties) having heard a peep about engineering positions....I wonder if they mean by team, they mean drivers...which everyone know's is FAR from what it takes to be successful in F1 or any high level motorsports venture.
