anyone race a focus?

so when I was 16 I decided after my first fwd I would never own one again, 11 years later I find myself wrenching on one trying to get it ready for next season

anyone here know much about them? so far we've managed to mis-shift and bent all the vavles, so we're looking for new one along with stiffer springs to keep it from happening again. Figured someone here would know a little about these.

Do those $8 harbor Freight dollies actually hold up to the weight of the car?

so you bought leo's old spec racer

Cosworth makes good valve springs for high rev's. i ran the "softer" springs(that were still approve for 9k rpm operation LOL)

ah so you know this car then? Wont be a spec car anymore though. Right now we're trying to get it up and running again so it can get it on the scales and dyno for NASA.

I had a customer that runs track days with one. He said there is not any real gains to be had on the N/A front. Not sure how true it was because my only dealings with those cars were that one and another that was boosted. Neither made very much power (very broad power band though on each). Both handled awesome for being fwd.

What class you shooting for with your dyno reclass? Is it staying in the Midwest/Great Lakes?

depends on what motor is in it, as far as i know Leo still had a 2.3 duratec in it, which can make deecnt power NA, but the motors really wake up with boost, the head architecture flows well. i myself am running a stock 2,3 long block with a turbo

this does have the 2.3 in it. Still no sure what class, the goal is to spend next season just driving the car HPDE and a little NASA to see what really needs to be addressed which I'm sure will be suspension after watching the spec focus vids.

yeah the spec focus suspension is too soft and has no adjustability . and the wheels in my opinion are too narrow
