Unconditional? Not on your life JC. Obviously you know NOTHING of my personal opinions....
But when Doug comes in here and makes baseless statements... I have to call those out.
I am not now, nor have I ever been an investor (well, I've invested a great deal of my time and energy, most of which has been uncompensated) or partner. Grateful for "fame?" Wouldn't fame require that more people than my dad and wife saw the show? I maintain my position is, as it always has been, to be a professional fan of Time Attack, regardless of the promoter, venue or competitor, and advocate for other fans and for the competitors. JC, you'd probably be really surprised to know that I was always one of your biggest advocates even.

Hey everyone. I just registered here as I had just stumbled upon this forum/thread by google.
I am Performance Motorsport's team Photographer/Videographer and was at this event covering it. As a lot of you may have seen on that Saturday, the incident from the wind wrecking our awning/Z06. Well, during that chaos, some jerk thought it was a great idea to walk off with close to $2,000 in my camera gear (HD video camera/8 hour battery/ and new tripod) Luckily, my DSLR was not on the tripod because if that was stolen, it would have turned into a bad scene.
Anyone who has pictures during the that time PLEASE send them to me at anthony@theexperience.com because there was A LOT of people taking pics of our rig during it all. I know in at least one shot there is evidence of of the guy walking off with my gear.
Any info PLEASE PLEASE speak up. I caught a guy with it in his hands but he put it down as soon as I made eye contact with him, and he repositioned the camera to where it was filming so I thought he was being courteous and getting it out of harms way IF the wind picked up again. BUT as soon as I went back to helping my crew take apart our awning and removing it from the back window of our Z06, that guy must have picked it back up and took off with it. I searched the track with a few team members as well as GTA staff members and could not find the guy who I suspected taking it.
So, can anyone shine some light on this? This was a really low thing to do.

Sorry to hear about your loss! That is a first in 5 years of road racing events that I have heard of that happening. I won't leave anything unlocked at a dragstrip, but track days there is always tons of equipment lying around. Very sad to hear!

I had to go back and check... NOPE, no baseless comments from me! Please point out where I was "baseless".
I may not have as much "base" as JC , but I have some!
Redline WAS (a couple years ago) a great organization with a good reputation and growing in popularity among car enthusiasts all over the country. As soon as they started letting "money" make the decisions and trying to be something they were NOT (a professional racing organization) they lost all credibility, and as we all have seen, nearly their entire fan base and almost all the competitors!

So in RTA's attempt to bestow itself with "professional" status and so on.... i struggled to find good shots after each event. How much money did you guys actually blow thru anyway? The rumor is a million easy. I could have taken that money and built a fucking EMPIRE with my rag tag crew. I found myself cleaning rocks off of a fucking race track in vegas while all of RTA minions sat on your asses watching us! The workers wouldn't even do it. WTF was that all about? I have seen the favoritism, the gay business decisions, and it made alot of people sick to see. Because many of us had a hand in RTA before it was consumed by money, hooker orgies and jet planes. I read a post by Nick a few days ago that some sponsors never put much into the series. It's called "Sweat Equity", getting cars to the track and making sure RTA had an event. It was "Sweat Equity" that gave RTA any value in the first place.

So lets come to grips and ask some hard questions... I realize it almost seems silly that I care so much about this, but this whole thing (time attack) matters to me.
I gave up a lot personally to do it. If you are not going to be profitable you will not be sustainable unless you are very rich. We are all hesitant to be invested in something again that might vanish. I believe it was quite clear that RTA was in financial trouble prior to the buyout. I also know of many fine organizations running event series that charge less to attend than RTA did and are profitable to boot. There was some sort of management or planning problem in RTA both before and after. We all saw the effects first hand, this is undeniable.
Nik, you are starting a new event or series, why should we trust you again?

All, I apologize for jumping in so late on this thread but I'm new to this Forum business. And since the Time Attack Forums people were so gracious to dedicate a forum to our own little GTA slice of this pie I may as well take advantage of this generous offer and be more active.
Without getting into any finger-pointing, name-calling, ownership or disassociation for or against any of the parties or entities named in this thread I can assure everyone that the GTA will NEVER charge for media accreditation as long as I am affiliated with the series.
We are well aware of how difficult it is to reach an audience outside of the actual spectators. With that in mind we are willing to do whatever it takes to attract any additional media coverage because more eyeballs never hurts and can only serve to help the series and our teams gain more sponsorship support.
To that end we are even going so far as to create our own media in the form of livestream web broadcasts, videos, photography, written recaps and of course social media content.
This is our position, not to say it's any better or worse than anyone else's.

I do like the direction GTA is going. I just hope to see more events here in the Midwest.
