CyberEVO Fastest Tuning Car at Fuji Speedway
Quote:
HKS PREMIUM DAY in FUJI SPEED WAY

On Sunday February 17 at Fuji Speedway, a test run of the new aerodynamics of the CyberEVO recorded the fastest unoffical lap time for a tuning car. The car was driven by Mr Eiji “Tarzan” Yamada.
This was our first full day of testing at FSW since the HKS Premium Day. There we ran into problems with too-much downforce causing the car to bottom out on long straights. We readjusted the ride-height, suspension dynamics and aero parts to function better with the higher speeds seen at FSW with the help of real-time suspension stroke analysis.
Making fine tune adjustments during the day across multiple laps, while Mr Yamada learned the intricacies of the circuit; we were able to get a 1min44sec lap, then 1min43sec and finally down to 1min42sec. Unfortunately we ran into problems with the transmission and couldn’t continue.
Analysis revealed a maximum speed of 281km/h (174.6mph) at a downforce of 950kgf which was surprising.

I'd be interested in seeing what other popular time attack cars over there have run there time wise to have something to compare to.

Me too ^^^
Also, what are the set of rules like over there? I see treaded Yokohama tires but I imagine that it is some of their "secret sauce" qualifying only tires that are unavailable to mere mortals (and not legal at RTA anyway)

How are the softer treaded tire compounds not allowed in mod but in unlimited the softer DOT slicks such as the A6 and R91 allowed...simply because it'd make it a single tire class?
In Japan there are a bunch of full soft treaded tires like that, Yoko of course has the A048 but I've heard it's not even the best...Dunlop has one, Hankook, Bridgestone, maybe 1 or 2 others.
I wish some of them made it over here.
As far as their rules I think they're basically similar to how current RTA unlimited looks, just running the treaded tires.

They mostly use A048's, but it has a softer compound, similar but not quite as sticky to a toyo proxie ra-1.
They have noise limits.
The OEM chassis and suspension pickups cannot be modified (This is why the Team Tarzan Tomei/Cusco/Voltex Impreza and HKS CT230r don't compete in japanese time attack events).

Is super lap battle different from this then and that's why the CT230 ran there? I haven't heard of a series similar to RTA over there, just lap battle and then individually hosted attacks.

RTA rules require that any tire used must be readily available to the public. Not only are Yok's "special" A048's not available to mere mortals, but the RTA staff has singled out this tire (and a few others) as specifically not allowed. Even in Unlimited class.
Yes, SLB has different tire rules than RTA. Strangely, SLB is much looser in Unl and street but much tighter in Limited (Mod) class. Go figure.....

The RTA format is similar to the DeSpeed Tsukuba Superlap <DESSPEED CUP 筑波1000 スーパーラップ> and the BE Circuit Time Attack. There they have a "Pro" class which is basically RTA Unlimited and the semi-pro class which is like Modified.
The "Sticky" A048s' (and now Advan Neova AD08) you can't get here, but they're easily available in Japan.
