There arent really official rules. There are unofficial rules which apparently get exceptions from time to time. I do know that officially now any DOT approved tire is supposedly legal.
wow thats awesome that you were there!

Were you able to get pics Andrew? That Revolution RX7, while not being as wild as a Super GT car, is definitely passed what I would consider a Time Attack legal car haha!

will

That is crazy that the tires are imported in that way...

pics of the event would be pretty sweet.

Sorry I didn't get that many pics, just like 5 shots of the Revolution car. I can describe the event though, I had a great time, I was telling the guys what the times were since everything was in Japanese. Im usually just some guy nerding out behind a laptop, but i wasn't working at this race so i got to walk around and look at all the cars. The TA car I usually support in JP was not running this race due to owner's wife having a baby.

All around the most interesting cars to me were: ASM S2k was hauling major ass on street tires, revolution RX8 just on build quality alone but still streetable. The Digi Spice car was a rare site, a really nice C6 Corvette. Digi Spice make these tiny GPS data acquisition boxes that are freaking awesome and cost $300, I saw one on the Revolution car as well, this was cool to me since I'm a data guy. The vette had some very functional aero work and a SuperGT driver. The driver said they were still sorting it out for sure and it was running in the 57s on kooks. That was a really rare site in Japan and I'm into Corvettes as you can guess. That car should be very fast on a bigger course.

I originally planned to come just to root for team USA since SSE was supposed to show up but I guess they couldn't make it.

I love it over here for motorsports. Japan and AUS are absolutely fanatical compared to how the US is now days.

Dig Spice English site

It appears to work very similarly to Max Q (along with a couple others I believe), if you are looking for something quick and state-side. Have used both their 10 and 20hz systems and they help for quick analysis of your run when you don't have much time.
