Can you expand on these "false promises" Polyphony Digital has made? Kazunori Yamauchi has never been one to make bold statements. Quite the contrary, Polyphony has been fairly mum since the release of GT5 Prologue as they quietly work on completing the game.
This is in stark contrast to Turn 10 (FM creators) who made some
outlandish comments at their E3 press conference, saying they are "shipping the definitive racing game of this generation" and "Forza 3 delivers the thrills that our competition can't."
Yamauchi was asked about Microsoft's comments in a
recent interview with Eurogamer. How did he respond?
Quote:
Eurogamer: One of the things that stood out in Microsoft's press conference was the Forza team saying it was the definitive simulation racer. How do you feel about that?
Kazunori Yamauchi: I don't exactly know what their announcement was about, but we've evolved over 10 years through our history, towards GT5, and I don't know if it's something that can be compared.

No low blows or fiery comebacks. Just complete class with everything he deals with. He lets his game titles do the talking and rightfully so. That "glorified demo" (GT5P) you speak of is a mere slice of the complete game and was still far better than Forza Motorsport 2. Having played both games extensively, I can truly say the "glorified demo" won out. GT5P didn't have as many cars or tracks as FM2, but I still found Gran Turismo more rewarding in both driving physics and gameplay. Not to mention
the revolutionary in car cockpit view that set GT5P well apart from its competitor.

The production of Gran Turismo for the PSP has been a long time coming. Yamauchi had this to say about the game
in a recent interview with Eurogamer...

Polyphony began work on this game as early as 2004, so it's understandable that it's something they would like to wrap up. Get the monkey off their back so to speak and be able to move on. With the release of the PSP GO imminent and again the fact that they would like to wrap this project up, it makes sense that they would advertise and focus on this title at E3 2009. If you can't understand that, well then I'm sorry. That is just smart business.

Yes, you are correct. Kazunori Yamauchi did state that Gran Turismo 5 is ready for release. He did so in the article you linked to and then
again in this video interview with GameReactorTV posted just yesterday.
To be frank, I could care less if you believe him. As for your "challenge" for Polyphony to release GT5 in October when FM3 does, I don't see that happening either, but again I don't care.

What does the above really mean? Sony's marketing gurus are probably suggesting Polyphony hold the release of Gran Turismo 5 for the 2009 Holiday Season and I'm sure Yamauchi-san is all too happy to oblige as he puts the polishing touches on this masterpiece.

Kazunori said it best.. good things are worth waiting for. And please don't feel sorry for me. Like I said, I've played both FM2 and GT5P extensively, and I know I won't be missing out by not purchasing Forza Motorsport 3.
