Rolex GT Cars?

Hey guys...

What do you guys know about Grand-Am Rolex GT cars....

And whether or not some of the models that race in that class, would be legal to run in our series, based on our current rules?

I realize some of the cars won't be legal, based on their build levels... like the Pontiacs or even some of the RX-8's that run.

But a team that has a 4 or 5 year old 350z that used to run in the series, is interested.

So long as the car meets our rules, I don't see an issue...

He was telling me what their car is capable of running at places like VIR, Willow Springs and Buttonwillow, and it is right in line with what our top cars will be running next year.

I do know that they have more money to burn than we do.

the 350z's would be legal. 99% certain stock pick up points were used on those cars. Infact, they might even be legal in modified IIRC...

If it's legal what's the issue? There's no budget cap in the rules....if I spent $20 million building a car and it was within the rules, so be it haha. Professional or Privateer, fastest car (within rules) wins....as I see it

Now that adds to the competition imo. From a bystander pov I find it very interesting that the field is diversified. Especially one coming from a money-laden field of racing like the Rolex series.

If they have time between events, i'm sure that if they happen to be in town....... they might pop by for one or two events.
I would think that they have bigger fish to fry with the sponsors that they have to appease. No offense to RTA, but the sponsor demographics for the Rolex Cup are far more sophisticated and demanding since they are actually giving these teams real paychecks.

Our demographic is a young man in his early to mid twenties that rents an apartment, and was quite possibly just laid off, or just graduated and is looking for work that currently does not exist. Again, i am injecting my honest thoughts about it.

Well it sounds more like it's a team with a former rolex car, not a current rolex team. If that's the case I can't see how it'd be any different from any other teams 350...in fact if still in rolex trim the engine will probably make way less power than other z's do at the moment.

I'm sure the car should fit right into the rules of (unlimited class) RTA, in fact the biggest limiting factor that that car has in its Grand Am GT class rules status is its limited (NA) power output. Now with the RTA rules in place for them they will be able to add a lot more power in the Z with some sort of forced induction.

Now, just think if they are saying that they are running just as fast of times as the fastest Unl cars now "as is" with no forced induction, etc.... than holly $hit are they going to be fast when they through more power at that car.
