The number of tire companies able to supply everyone an unlimited tire are very few because its not a high volume tire for them. They build enough tires to sell, not to sit around in a warehouse. They are not going to build 300-400 tires just so they can run Redline. There are a few companies that might be able to do that.
The net of all this is that means less tire company support, which means less money for teams, which means less competitors, and in the end it just hurts the series. What is the answer? Not sure, but it seems at this point in the life of the series and the state of the economy is to open the tire rule up to everyone or make it a spec tire series.
I like competing in redline but I don't have to, so what ever they end up doing is what it is. But if they really open it up, they will see more teams, drivers, sponsors, and overall support for the series.
Just my 2 cents and yes its biased
