RTA Good Memories Thread...may this seris RIP
Although it had its troubling times in its final years, there's no denying that the Redline Time Attack Series paved the way for North American time attack. For many of us, RTA was a place we met many good friends, had tons of fun, and established our careers.
Post photos, videos, and memories about the "good 'ol days."
My favorite year of my days in time attack was by far 2010. My first year driving a full season for a team, my first championship, never finished worse than 3rd, a few track records, and best of all a ton of good friends were made that year. For me I think that this is the first year that time attack in North America became the community that it is today. The events themselves were not as large as 2009 and the series itself started to go to shit, but 2010 was the most fun by far.
Favorite moment would have to be the season opener at Buttonwillow. This wasn't my first time driving the Berk 135i, but it was our first event as a new team. I had driven the car at the 2009 RTA finals but it was just for the team to see how I would do. New team, well Phil and I were new, updated BMW 135i, and a new plan of attack. Prior to the 2010 season opener the car's best finish was 5th in Street RWD. Everyone on the team had good attitudes and excitement for the new season. Our goal was simply to be close to the podium and my favorite moment in my career thus far was hearing that we had won and set a new RTA track record in Street RWD. We were all pretty pumped and that event started a podium streak for that car that is still unbroken.
Favorite memories off the track were traveling East Coast with the RTA crew as part of the event staff. I couldn't drink at the West Coast events since I had to focus on driving, but at the East Coast events it was game on. Anyone who was at Chicago knows what I am talking about haha.
