Ye Olde Rabbit, '84 VW GTI

Hello hello everyone,

Maybe if I start a build log on here it will keep me motivated on my project. Below are some pictures of what I am up to.

Essentially a fun track toy not really built to any set of rules as of yet, but I will look a bit more into compliance once it gets further along. Essentially going to be an entry into open course time trial sort of events.

A VW with a non-VW drivetrain and some trick little bits to make it handle well.

I am an engineer by trade and have been through my fair share of vehicles. Just never had a real job like I have now to be able to do what I wanted. Plenty of fab tools and good ideas, so we shall see where it goes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

How I drove her for a little over a year. A former Mid Atlantic/Northeast ITB car. Beat to hell, crashed, straightened a few times but was a competitive car from what I hear.

Fast forward! New job, move to coastal Virginia, and a bit of work later.

The stage we are at now. It is on it's side repairing the scars from running on the rumble strips it's whole life and prepping for future fab work. Tedious work to get the shell to where it needs to be. Not the funnest stage of a build but it has to be done I suppose.

Looks like a money pit.....

I should also mention that I build custom lightweight steel bike frames and have some motorcycle and scooter stuff floating around. Ohh and the engine swap in my Volvo, and my day job. I have focus problems....

Cheers for now
